Security
Overview
At District 113, the safety and security of our students and staff is our highest priority. We take a layered approach to our comprehensive safety and security program, applying multiple measures together to help mitigate risks on our campuses. This multifaceted strategy goes beyond physical security infrastructure, emergency response protocols, and safety drills; it is rooted in the understanding that safe schools are built through a coordinated effort involving everyone in our District.
We believe that creating a secure environment requires collaboration among all District stakeholders: school personnel, local first responders, community members, parents, guardians, caregivers, and, most importantly, our students. Together, we can foster a culture where every individual feels valued, respected, and supported, which is foundational to our safety efforts.
Research has shown that student connection and belonging are the most important factors in maintaining a safe environment. We encourage every member of our community to be active participants in this effort. Remember, to speak up for safety: if you see something, say something. Open communication is critical to preventing potential threats and ensuring the well-being of everyone.
We are committed to working hand in hand with you to maintain an environment where students can thrive. Your vigilance and dedication are vital to the success of this mission, and together, we will continue to make District 113 a place where everyone feels safe and supported. Thank you for your ongoing partnership in safeguarding our schools.
